Just Keep Climbing

In the car doing some errands, I was about to plug in my phone to turn on Joyce Meyer or something encouraging and I got this sudden feeling that I needed to listen to music instead. If you know me, you know I have this mental obsession with always being productive unless I’m 100% drained…. what do I do when I’m 100% drained? Well, I usually sit in front of my computer watching Friends and eating ice cream until I feel sick to my stomach! HA! We all have our coping mechanisms, right? Anyways… I was in one of those moods where I had to be productive at least during my drive time. Just the fact I had time in the car I felt this pull that I needed to make the time productive…. and the only way I could do that was to listen to something I’m learning from.

But I followed this little nudge to listen to music and just look around and think…. these are the moments God usually speaks to me…. in the middle of the day during my chaos…. somehow I hear his sweet little whispers and inspirational nudges. This was one of those moments for me. I looked up at the sky and noticed all these beautiful clouds…. there was so much depth…. and just so many different shapes and sizes…. so of course I took a photo while I was driving. The fact that the road is in the photo makes me happy, just a nice reminder of our journey we’re all on. The journey of life is just a road…. sometimes it’s paved and smooth…. other times it’s rocky and rugged and hard…. never the less it’s our road to journey down.

As I drove down the road it was a bit of a slope with a big hill at the end across the street. I realized as I continued to drive these beautiful clouds started to disappear and this is when I had my moment. I realized that life is like this….. unless we climb our mountain.... unless we fight our personal wars we’ll never truly see all the blessings he has for us..... don’t stop at the foot of the hill... fight..... climb to the top.... no matter how bruised up and banged up.... just focus on getting one foot in front of the other. However that looks for you just focus on baby steps…. consistency is key.

Another really important thing….. DO NOT get distracted by the size of your mountain…. yours may look steeper than others…. you may have to trec through the woods too… but don’t let this slow you down. If you stop to look at others and where they’re at…. you’ll ease back your fight a bit…. you’ll slow your pace…. you may see others just climbing the hill and getting to the top easily and instead of celebrating with them you’ll get angry you’re not at the top of your mountain too…. but you have no right to get upset…. you have no idea what they went through to get to the top…. plus you’re just sitting there watching…. get your booty moving, climbing your own mountain.

***below is a photo I took of another angle of those gorgeous clouds.... this angle shows a dirt road.... some serious wooded areas and a huge hill with a thick amount of trees to the top.

Now if you're someone who feels like your journey was pretty simple and you're up there at the top.... it's time to start cheering on everyone coming behind you. God placed you up there to be an example, to use your story to inspire those who are not sure if they even want to climb anymore. Wherever we are on our mountain we need to ban together..... we need to link arms.... and if we're too far apart.... link hearts.... pray for each other.... check in with each other..... show each other love even when we feel like we're in a dark place.... chances are if you feel like you're in a dark place, others do too.... the whole point we're even on this earth is because God was lonely and needed companions.... He wants a relationship with us..... we were created in His imagine and are the same way.... we need relationships..... we need friends that recognize when we're in the trenches and jump in with us and help us crawl out.

I feel led to leave some songs here.... if you're in the trenches and you just need something to listen to.... something to blast through your headphones and just stare out at the clouds :) These are some good jams.

"Forever" by Fireflight

"I'm Not Alright" by Sanctus Real
