Just Keep Climbing
Updated: Oct 4
I was in the car the other day doing some errands. I was about to turn on Joyce Meyer and suddenly I got this feeling that I needed to listen to music instead. If you know me, you know I have this mental obsession with always being productive unless I’m 100% drained. What do I do when I’m 100% drained? I usually sit in front of my computer watching Friends or The Office and eat ice cream until I feel sick to my stomach! LOL We all have our coping mechanisms, right?
Anyways… I was in one of those 'force productivity' moods even though I was driving. The only way I thought I could still be productive was to listen to something that I could learn from.
But I followed this little nudge to listen to music and just look around and think. These are the moments God usually speaks to me the most. In the middle of the day during my chaos, somehow I hear his sweet little whispers and inspirational nudges.
I looked up at the sky and noticed all these beautiful clouds. There was so much depth and so many different shapes and sizes. (see pic below). The fact that the road is in the photo makes me smile, it's a nice symbolic reminder that life in itself, is a journey. The journey of life is just a road, sometimes it’s smooth, other times it’s bumpy and difficult.

This particular streets has a slight downward slope. At the end of the street there is a hill across from the intersection. As I drove further the clouds started to disappear. This is when something clicked in my mind. This moment made me realize that life is just like this. If we don't keep going, we'll never get to see all the blessings God has in store for us.
*Second photo after some of the clouds disappeared behind the hill.
Sometimes we may start climbing and find that the view halfway up the hill is still pretty nice. It's not as nice as the view we know we would see if we made it to the top. We must learn to take breaks, not quit. There's nothing wrong with taking a break because it means you'll start again. Failure is proof that you are trying. Failure isn't the end, it's a chance to try it again, differently.
As you're climbing and looking around, don't get distracted by the amount you have to climb verses the amount others have to climb. Some made climb the mountain all the way to the top and move on to another. Everyone's journey is different. Everyone's reason why is different. If all you want is to get to the top and simply enjoy being there, go for it.
Take a moment to look around to see who is behind you. Who can you lend a hand to and help their climb get better? Make an effort to help others on the journey too, but don't get too lost that you forget your journey.
I feel led to leave some songs here. If you're in the trenches and you need something to listen to.... something to blast through your headphones and just stare out at the clouds :) These are some good jams.
